Who we are

Charles Tax Group ("Charles Tax Group," "we," "us," "our") is a tax services brand operated by JNC Investment Group LLC, an authorized IRS e-file Provider holding EFIN 592274. We are based in Orlando, Florida, and serve clients across the United States. The principal preparer and operator is Joel Charles.

What this policy covers

This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information you share with us through this website (charlestaxgroup.com) or in the course of providing tax preparation, ledger preparation, or related services.

Information we collect

We collect the following kinds of information, only when you provide it:

Contact information: name, firm name, email address, phone number — submitted through forms or directly to us.
Engagement details: the service tier you're inquiring about, the scope of work, transaction volume, entity type, and any notes you provide.
Documents you upload or send: bank statements, tax documents, W-2s, 1099s, identification, and other financial records necessary to perform the work you've engaged us for.
Server logs: our hosting provider automatically logs IP addresses, timestamps, and basic browser information when you visit this site, as is standard for any website.

How we use your information

We use information you provide for one or more of the following purposes:

To respond to your inquiries and provide the services you've requested
To prepare tax returns, ledgers, or other deliverables you've engaged us for
To send you completed work, engagement letters, invoices, and follow-up communication relating to your engagement
To comply with our legal obligations as an IRS-authorized preparer, including record retention requirements under IRS regulations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information for marketing purposes. We do not use your information to train AI models or for any purpose unrelated to providing you the services you've engaged us for.

How your information is stored

Information you submit through forms on this website is transmitted over an encrypted connection (SSL/HTTPS) and delivered to a secure email mailbox controlled by Joel Charles. Documents you send by email, text message, WhatsApp, or shared file folder are received and stored using industry-standard practices for a small tax practice. Files necessary for tax preparation are retained for the period required by IRS recordkeeping rules; sample submissions and inquiries that do not result in an engagement are retained only as long as needed to respond and are deleted thereafter.

Sharing with third parties

We do not share your information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

Filing your return with the IRS or state tax authority: we transmit return data to the IRS and applicable state authorities through authorized e-file systems, with your prior consent.
Refund advance providers: if you elect a refund advance product, we share relevant return data with Santa Barbara TPG or other bank product partners to facilitate that product.
Legal compliance: we may disclose information when required by subpoena, court order, IRS request, or other legal process.

We never share, sell, or rent your personal or financial information to marketers, data brokers, or any party for any purpose other than the services you've engaged us to perform.

NDAs and confidentiality

We routinely sign non-disclosure agreements with tax firm clients before reviewing client files. Our standard practice — with or without a signed NDA — is to treat all client information as strictly confidential, accessible only to the preparer working on your engagement.

Your rights

You may at any time:

Request a copy of the information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements that apply to tax preparers
Withdraw consent for us to contact you

Cookies and analytics

This website does not currently use tracking cookies, third-party analytics scripts, or behavioral advertising. Standard server logs are kept by our hosting provider for security and traffic-monitoring purposes. If we add analytics in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect that change.

Children's information

This website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
